Counseling & Life Coaching
for Natural Families

Many families have asked me about therapists for post-partum depression, preschool and elementary school age child issues, and marital relationship strains --- looking for counselors who are wide open to parenting practices such as extended breastfeeding and cosleeping. The below I know personally and feel to be special finds.

Mary L. Obata, M.A.

Mary L. Obata, M.A., MFT, a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFC 44277). She provides individual, couples, and group therapy in Kensington and has over fifteen years of experience counseling clients from diverse backgrounds with a wide range of issues. Her experience as a mother led to a special interest in working with pregnancy and postpartum issues, and she practices attachment parenting herself. Mary currently offers Mothers Support Groups and Pregnant Moms Groups where moms can receive support, tools, and resources for coping.

She also specializes in the areas of self-esteem and empowerment, relationships and intimacy, life transitions/parenthood, depression/anxiety, infertility/loss, women’s issues, and trauma/abuse. She uses cutting-edge techniques to help resolve trauma called

EMDR and EFT, which can help women heal more quickly and completely from losses, disappointments, and traumas that may have occurred during the birth experience or at other times in a woman’s life.

Mary has given numerous presentations on topics such as: Emotionally Preparing for Parenthood; Adjusting to Motherhood; Postpartum Depression and the Range of Postpartum Adjustment; and Balancing Act: Nurturing Our Families, Nurturing Ourselves. She currently serves on the Advistory Board of the Postpartum Health Alliance after serving on the Board of Directors for eight years. In addition, she publishes

The Therapist Directory of San Diego. She would be happy to talk with you to see how she may be of help. Mary L. Obata, M.A., MFT, can be reached at 619-220-4680.

Pediatric Life Coaching

Adelaide L. Zindler, B.S.
"All" interactions impact our most vulnerable little ones, and Pediatric Life Coaching is a strength-based health care service designed to restore optimum well being in childhood. This specialty is tailored to the unique needs of children from preschool to elementary age. Through a family designed alliance, on-site coaching points young clients toward the goal line (of mental health) from home to the classroom.

It has been through the foundational work of the late Thomas Joseph Leonard, that Adelaide L. Zindler, B.S. gained her initial exposure to this innovative process. She is the first to consider pediatric emotions and overall health in the context of life coaching. She incorporates family dynamics, nutrition, and the environmental influences that impact early childhood.

Gaze through the PedsPlay.com site and then call or e-mail Ms. Zindler for more information. Once you speak with Adelaide over the phone, you will recognize what a valuable treasure she is.
